October is National Domestic Violence Awareness Month. The month-long observance reminds us to stay vigilant with the message that violence against women and girls must end! It also provides an opportunity for us to celebrate the Victors of intimate partner violence.
Wear Purple Day is a nationwide event that brings the public out to promote domestic violence awareness by wearing purple on a designated date. Long used as a symbol for women seeking justice the color purple is also our rallying color for survivors to reclaim their power.
On October 15, The Purple Boots Foundation will host its Wear Purple Day Event at Mark SQuared Studios in Clarkston, Georgia at 7pm. Attendees are encouraged to wear purple, gather to hear brief remarks about the impact of domestic violence in our community, view the domestic violence PSA-Short Film “Controlled” and participate in a sky lantern release.
Supporters should help spread the word by posting their #WearPurpleDayDMV2015 photos to Facebook, Twitter and Instagram and tagging #PurpleBoots2015.
