Victors celebrated with day of motivation, makeovers and more

Victors of Domestic Abuse and Violence

October is Domestic Violence Month. On Saturday, October 24, The Purple Boots Foundation held its 2nd annual motivation & makeover conference. Thanks to a group of dedicated volunteers everything needed to treat survivors of abuse to a day of renewal lined up perfectly…inspiration, rejuvenation, fellowship, motivation, and more wrapped in in purple, white tees and rhinestone boots..

Life coaches, beauty consultants, photographers, artisans and entertainers joined together to celebrate the lives of victors with a full day of motivation and a professional makeover.

Delesslyn Audra Kennebrew set the tone by speaking directly into the victors with a message of hope and resilience. Singer/songwriter Mahogany Marie used music to tell her own personal story of triumph. Sam Thesoulstylist Welton was abSOULutly soul-stirring with her three advice points – show gratitude every day, surround yourself with brutally honest motivators, and write down the things you want to manifest in your life.

Souls soothed the ladies were whisked over to the make-up room where they were transformed by celebrity make-up artist, image consultant and so much more MsNickee Mack, make-up artist extraordinaire Kelley Douglas and hair artist Dori Hampton. International photographer Charlton Hudnell of My Miracle Moments conducted an amazing photo shoot that captured each victors strength and joy.

The ladies continued to unwind and bond over the festive lunch prepared by Savoy Creations. Later, international inspirational singer, Mr. Make You Shout for the Lord Dion Hairston prepared the room for the Keynote Speaker Johnnetta McSwain, Ph.D. Dr. McSwain reminded us “ain’t no traffic on the extra mile”. The conference concluded with Stephanie Drake who encouraged everyone to seize, conquer and triumph. It was a magical day where each and every person walked away with a renewed spirit.

A very special thank you went out to volunteers Ebony Broadnax, TJ Nicole, and Sahura Ankh Hotep. The biggest thank you was given to Tomica Savoy who the team acknowledge gave 100% of her time, energy and resources to help execute every vision and knock down any obstacle.

Karlotta Washington, the Foundation’s co-founder says, “while we celebrate the lives of victors our ultimate goal is to give violence against women and girls the boot!” Domestic abuse and violence against women and girls is a global epidemic. In America, 1 in every 4 women are victims; the statistics are even more discouraging globally.

The Purple Boots Foundation celebrates the resiliency of survivors of intimate partner violence; raises awareness to aid in the prevention of domestic violence and improves aftercare resources for survivors.
